Backing Up and Restoring Licenses in the Runtime Manager

It is a good idea to back up the Runtime Manager (RTM) data to a network directory, particularly in case of a hard disk crash or in case the RTM machine is not normally connected to the Internet.

Perform a backup every time licenses are added or removed. This allows you to restore your licenses without executing the activation process again.

To Backup RTM Data:
  1. Double-click on the RTM icon in the System Tray

  2. Click on the Backup button to save the data

  3. Insert a floppy disk or click Cancel to save elsewhere

  4. Select path if not saving to floppy

  5. Press Save (it will save the file as rtbackup.bak)

To Restore RTM Data:
  1. Double-click on the RTM icon in the System Tray

  2. Click on the Restore button

  3. Insert the floppy disk with rtbackup.bak or click Cancel if the backup file is saved elsewhere

  4. Select path of file if not saved to floppy

Note: Hardware failures may require a change to some hardware components on the RTM machine. This is considered as a Move License operation. In this situation, restoring the backup cannot be used. Call Pronexus Support.
