Runtime Manager Operation Modes

Depending on how the RTM is used and what types of licenses are available, three modes of operation are possible:

Eval Mode

Entered automatically when the RTM is not installed or not used by VBVoice. This mode, intended mainly for product demonstrations and evaluation, allows access to all standard VBVoice features from within the MS Visual Studio design environment.

Limitations: The VBVoice optional Add-on controls are not available; projects are limited in execution time; projects cannot be compiled into executables; testing can only be done on the PC's sound card.

VB Mode

The normal development mode is enabled by installing RTM and loading it with at least one Developer Seat license. The VB Mode is intended for programmers to develop and debug their VBVoice applications, working within the MS Visual Studio design environment. The projects can run with regular telephony cards for up to two hours and can use an unlimited number of controls and VBVoice lines. However, third party functionality requires the appropriate runtime licenses. The VB Mode is not intended for deployment into production or for performance or stress testing.

Executable Mode

This is the normal production mode and it is automatically enabled once the VBVoice application has been compiled into a Windows executable program. This mode is also intended for performance and stress testing. The RTM must be installed and visible on the network and it must be loaded with VBVoice runtime licenses.
