The Secondary RTM provides licensing backup for 72 hours. This time period is called the Max Backup Time. During this time, you must decide whether to fix the Primary RTM or to request a License Movement from Pronexus.

During the Max Backup Time, an application requiring a license connects to the Primary first and then to the Secondary. Whenever the Primary is online again, it takes precedence over the Secondary and replies to the license messages.

If you change the name of the Primary RTM machine, you must change the configuration files of both the Primary and Secondary RTMs and all clients. After changing the configuration files, you must restart the Secondary RTM.

When the Max Backup Time elapses, your Secondary RTM no longer provides any licenses. Once you have fixed your Primary RTM and have it online again, all RTM operations return to normal. You do not need to do anything to your application or to the Secondary RTM.

Failure in the Secondary RTM does not affect the operations of the Primary RTM.

However, if you need to replace the machine hosting the Secondary RTM and the name of the machine changes, then you may need to restart the Primary RTM.
